Collecting recipes and publishing cookbooks has always been a great fund-raiser for non-profit orgs.  I have one from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and one from a local org called Family Services (mostly low-cost counseling for all sorts of problems.)

The Family Services book has a very easy vegetable stew recipe from the late Paul Lynde (that's how long ago the book was published.)

Carl and Randall, I sort of look upon our little group here as something quite similar to the church ladies, rural electric co-op magazine, farm bureau flyer, and gas company local newsletter of recipes, advice, and helpful hints. Tips, shortcuts, better methods, and unique ways of preparing local produce and storing favorite foods for the colder months. We're carrying on a tradition that goes back before Thomas Jefferson told George III to blow it out his.........

I have two or three church cookbooks as well.  They have some really fine recipes in them. 

Sometimes good recipes come from the most unexpected places.  Years ago I received a small booklet from the gas company with recipes promoting stove and gas grill use.  It has an easy and delicious recipe for crab cakes that I've made countless times.

Yes, I have a couple of "church ladies" cookbooks. One is filled with quiche recipes, back when that was a popular dish. Funny. Two other favorites are "Amish" books. Now those women could cook.

Randall and Carl, I've gone through old books compiled by church ladies for casseroles and desserts. In the words of Tony the Tiger, THEY'RE GREAT!

What I'm doing now is getting on YouTube and looking at ethnic cooking (in the native language). Amazing what you can learn from a video of an abuela (grandmother) standing over a stove and kitchen counter with someone near her with a video camera.

Randy, I still use recipes that I cut out of the Chicago Tribune back in the early 1990's.  Two of them I've totally adapted and made into my own over the years.  An Asian pork with hoisin sauce and also a pounded chicken breast sauteed in lemon/orange juice and garlic.
