Oh, yes Patricia.  Now you mentioned it, I seem to remember abalone needing pounding, and I think I did do that before cooking.

I love seafood & abalone needs to be pounded for tenderizing as far as I remember. I like to do the Asian stir fry style on rice, Italian, (without garlic, damn, garlic hates my innards) Chow Mein, Chili, & to make even a quick Kraft dinner a little more interesting I add peas, chopped hotdogs, parmesan, & hot sauce.

Yours truly LOVES good food.  My wife and I regularly enjoy Mexican, Indian, Italian, Greek, Lebanese, Chinese and Japanese Hibachi.  We just had jambalaya for dinner a few days ago and I'm looking forward to her killer gumbo this weekend.  Also had a Peruvian restaurant open up not far from us and that was fun to explore.  Steak now and then is good, and I LOVE a good burger!  Haven't tried sushi yet, but some time or other...!

In my travels, I've been lucky enough to have felafel in Israel, curry in India and Pepper Crab in Singapore (VERY messy but VERY GOOD!).  I've also been able to drink Guinness in Ireland (oh, MAN!!!) and single-malt whisky in Scotland (YUM!).

Put succinctly, LET'S EAT!

I like almost all foods.  Just wish I enjoyed cooking.

I think I might enjoy cooking more if I were doing it with friends like you speak of Joan.  Sounds wonderful.

Swimming is fun for me also, plus I took-up SCUBA diving when I lived in California.  I was a little concerned about sharks and I nearly drowned once, but still enjoyed it.

I picked-up a few abalone when I went diving, but never learned how to cook them so they tasted good.  Never ate the expensive things at a restaurant, so don't know if I'd like them any better there.

I like all seafood except crab and lobster (& abalone?).  They taste too bland.  But I do very much like the little lobster like critters that I've harvested from fresh water, called crayfish.  Also called crawfish, crawdads mudbugs, or freshwater lobsters.  At least I like the ones I got from a creek near where I live.

Sentient, your two crepe videos got us started in fine style. I loved Julia Child; on seeing this video, I realize that she was a great pioneer in food programming. I felt anxious as she went through her cooking process; the gentleman's presentation was almost relaxing. Great things will come from this Food site, the food, the people, and the sharing! Bon Appetit!

I wish I could join you in a meeting with Julia Child and celebrate those things you mentioned: gayness, vegetarianism, and organic foods.

My tiny little kitchen; for 39 years I celebrated with family and friends birthdays, weddings, baby showers, memorial services, neighborhood gatherings, and all the milestones of a family's life. I like people in the kitchen with me, and as you can imagine, it gets to be a dance, almost a ballet, in celebration of food and community.

lol Spud!  I have a thing about the ocean.  I love to be near it, or on it, or just have my feet in it, but I have a fear of under the ocean water, and all the things in it.  For instance, when we were in Key West I just couldn't go snorkeling with my family.  It's weird!  I have the same feeling about any natural body of water.  I love to swim though!  Swimming pools only! lol.

Sorry to creep you out Mindy, but I'm frying octopus as I type.  I love the critters.  Fry them until they get a very strong flavor.  Yum!

Anyone else like them?

Thanks for the invitation to join~ :)

I like almost all foods except seafood.  I wish I liked it.  The thought of it even creeps me out!  I don't like fish, lobster, shrimp, etc.  I never have.  I keep trying it, but I don't like the smell, texture, taste, anything!  Weird?!
