While teaching, I packed sandwiches for lunch every day. Consequently, I rarely eat them. I've been to Subway once in my life. I do like grilled cheese, however. I've forgotten what pastrami tastes like!

For me dark brown bread with mature Dutch cheese, sambal and tomato...

I'm a sandwich guy myself.  I so love a good deli sandwich on some good Jewish or Polish Rye bread with a side of soup, cole slaw or potato salad.  Corned beef, roasted turkey, lean roast beef.......any of those is the perfect lunch for me.  And you gotta have a good crunchy garlic dill pickle.

Food is a great way to share with friends. I cook, my wife cooks and all of my sons cook. It was must in our family. That said, I am a sandwich man. There was a detective in one Lawrence Sanders books who regularly made wet sandwiches that he ate over the sink. That's me. I scour the pantry and refrigerator looking for good things to put on some type of bread.

My bread...

Water, sea salt, olive oil, honey, whole wheat flour, bran, fresh ground flax.

Lately I've been freezing all the water I drain after cooking vegetables, & when I have 4 cups worth, I thaw it out & use that for the bread.

Spud - I posted hummus recipe in discussion above.  Much cheaper and tastier to make from scratch.  I use food processor but have used a blender before too.

Patricia, what goes into your high fiber bread?

Susan, being vegetarian I don't eat seafood, but I do eat the fake chicken patties from the frozen food section at the grocery store.  They are very similar (I think, but what do I know) to a breaded filet of fish.  They make a nice sandwich with tartar sauce and pickle on a bun, like the "filet-o-fish" sandwiches they used to have at McDonalds.

Mindy, I like baking too.  I use the oven every day.

Making my high fiber bread today, & prepping potato wedges for the Actifry to cook for dinner.

I don't cook at all.  When I lived on my own it was frozen dinners.

I don't love to cook, but once it's done and my family is sitting together at the table, I'm really happy I did it.  I really enjoy baking though!  Too bad the things I bake I eat too much of!:)

I like seafood.  Too bad i have allergies.  Had one shrimp the other day and my dad was afraid that I was going to stop breathing.

Haven't swam in the ocean since I was about 8.  We were vacationing in Key West and I got stung by a jellyfish.  Been afraid of the ocean ever since.  No problem with swimming pools or man made lakes.
