Comment by Maria Rodriguez on September 9, 2011 at 9:32pm: My two younger sons are in homeschool (7th and 11th grades) and for the past years they have been doing virtual school (FLVS). When I was choosing this school year courses for my sons, I noticed that FLVS had added a guitar/music course to the curriculum. In general terms, it looks pretty good; the student will learn the fundamentals of music, and whatever is necesary to become a skilled guitarist. What I didn't like is that many of the songs they are going to learn are church/Christian songs like "Amazing Grace", "Joy to the World", "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands", "When the Saints Go Marching In", and more. So, after I read that they were required to learn how to play those songs, I decided to not register them in that class.

Is there anyone in this group (Florida Atheists) with children that are doing school with Florida Virtual School?

It is a private group, but just submit a request to join and either I or one of the admins will approve your membership shortly.
