Comment by Paula T. on December 8, 2011 at 6:02pm: I will piggyback on your comment, Steph, and tell you that you are right about religious people acting religious for show, because I am guilty of doing that! While still a believer and weekly church attendee or at a function at my sons' school, I always felt like I had to "look" like I was deep in prayer, so sincere in my actions and trying to impress others. Religion can really do a number on your self confidence and self esteem that you feel you have to prove you're a perfect example of piety, obedience, and abstinence. In reality, it's all in one's own mind that those impressions matter. Every other religious person is too worried about how they look to others, that they don't really see how others look and behave.

Can you imagine the backlash if Atheists had, and used, such a public platform? Ok, Ok... it would be completely cool, but the religious would flip out!!! For those who do not know, the Governor stated the tree was a Christmas Tree and he wasn't going to refer to it as anything else. In the event we all cheer the crowd here, please note the woman directly in front. She imediately covered my sign (I got lucky with the picture when I did). When I moved her sign to keep mine visible, she acosted me stating, "I am trying to make a point!" My reply?
