Mercury contamination is so serious in Florida that
Women who want to have children ... should never eat cobia or shark from coastal waters or largemouth bass from most freshwater lakes and rivers. [emphasis mine]
Mercury pollution must drop 86%, Florida says
Even healthy Florida adults not intending to have children are cautioned to not eat most fish more than twice a week, and top predators less often than that. Guidelines for women and children recommend even less fish.
I wonder, here in PA, where the fish in my grocery store was caught. They are never labeled by state, only a foreign country or domestic. There seems to be high mercury levels for almost all US coastal waters.
