There seem to be a few of us ex-mo's in the Nexus and it is good to share the particular intricacies of extracting oneself from Mormonism.

Hi Everyone - glad to have found this group.
Had my name and the names of my three children removed from the church roles 11 years ago. I credit those "passive-aggressive" primary and youth leaders for helping me to take the plunge. I sympathize with those going through the process! It's life-changing to have your entire family/social enviroment shattered by a you're-dead-to-me sentiment. My husband couldn't hack it...he still has his name on the rolls.
My best advice would be to "hang on"...your healing WILL come, and you'll be stronger than you were before!
Warm regards to everyone out there...I'm please to be numbered among you.
Selina, the ex mormon website I frequent is lifeaftermormonism.net/
I've started writing my exit story, but I don't know how long it will take or how engaging it will be.
There are many very active ex mormon websites with bulletin boards out there. Several of the sites have many stories of people leaving the church. I am sure you could get many responses to a request on the boards.
Mormon expression is a great podcast and they have a very active facebook group. There is also a private facebook group that is even more active.
Mormon stories is also another good podcast resource. Best of luck with your book.
I am writing a book on leaving your religion. I am a former muslim and my story will be in there as well. getting people to contact me is like pulling teeth. If anyone here has an engaging story of how they became an atheist after being a religious mormon I would like it. It can be anonymous or I can include your name.
Kevin: Yes. I resigned years ago and was still contacted when my exwife wanted to get remarried. I kindly told them that I resigned and so there was no reason I would have to be involved. She then told me that the approval process was going to take awhile, so they got married civilly and plan on getting sealed in a year.
My son is starting to get little passive-aggressive primary gifts at the door....so it won't be long til the hubby and I do so as well. Congrats!
Congratulations on your new-found status as a son of perdition Kevin ;) I haven't gotten that far yet myself, but someday. Did you get the T-shirt?
@Kevin D This site has a good template and instructions for how to handle the process. http://packham.n4m.org/leaving.htm Church leaders are required to handle the process confidentially, so I would stress the part about considering legal regress if they do not (do not promise more than you can deliver; threatening legal action is unnecessary at this point, but it is a good idea to make sure they know it is a possibility). Hope it goes well for you.
