Thanks, D.G., for stating my sentiments in a much more eloquent fashion.

He was not saying that the world is an a-okay place except for the few people who complain. That we don't have problems, and that people aren't at a disadvantage. He wasn't being elitist or downplaying the struggles of the disenfranchised.

He was saying that many people believe that anything that does not conform to their world view is incorrect or lacks value. And that only the people/cultures/nations that submit to their world view, and live according to their dictates, are correct.

That is true, spot-on, and what atheists complain about all the time: that the religious want to bend the world to their will regardless of the rights and freedoms of others.

Don't apologize Ken. It wasn't drivel. It was correct. To these people, the world indeed does not work for them, and it never will, because they seek the unattainable, the unreasonable, and the unjust.

Maggie was right the first time. And it was drivel. Obscene drivel. Reality is not subjective, it's not what you make it. Anyone who maintains that the world is fine as it is has no business discussing ethics.

Ken,
It was not "drivel"! It was taken out of context! :-)

I agree with you that are a great deal of what's wrong with us humans is that we are not open to the ideas of others and want everything done the way we believe it should be.

Okay, okay ... it was drivel. Geeez!

I assume Ralph is making reference to "Possibly, the only people the world doesn't work for are those who believe the world must work their way."

Taken out of context it, does seem an unrealistic view. Today's world doesn't work for the majority of humans living on the planet. Poverty, disease, war, starvation, terrorism, etc..

Tell us what's really on your mind.

Looks like a crystal ball.

Ralph - Can you be more constructive in your criticism? Tell us what's really on your mind.
Comment by Ralph Dumain on November 8, 2009 at 10:55pm
Only a privileged person could write such drivel.
