Ethical Culture

Ethical Culture is a Humanist movement inspired by the ideal that the supreme aim of our lives is to create a more humane society. We believe acting morally does not require belief in a god.

Richard - Possibly, the only people the world doesn't work for are those who believe the world must work their way. There are some who are content to let others live their own way even if that way differs. Others are not so content, and must make those around them accept their world view. For some, this is one distinction between good and bad.

Non-theistic parents might be interested in this Parenting Beyond Belief workshop that the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County (NJ) is hosting on October 17. It's geared towards non-theistic parents of all strips: Ethical Culture, secular, humanist, humanistic Jewish, etc. Conducted by renowned humanist author and educator Dale McGowan.

Hi Sarah! Nice to meet you! One of the eight commitments of Ethical Culture is a commitment to educate ourselves - so you already know something about Ethical Culture! I joined Ethical Culture almost three years ago, and am always learning more, so it would be great to share that journey together. Just recently I've been checking out all the websites of other Ethical Culture Societies, as each one has their own unique understanding of Ethical Culture. This has really helped me to understand a broader perspective.

Peace,

Mai

Hi Dave, so nice to see you on AN! Thanks for inviting me to join...I am very interested in starting some discussion regarding Ethical Culture and where my being atheist fits in with it. When I have a moment to formulate some of my thoughts on the subject, I will be sure and start a discussion here!
Peace and so glad to have an opportunity to reconnect.

Mai
