Population is not the cause of the destruction of the nature and ecology, it is the unrestrained of the Big corporates and oligarchies who are destroying the environment by their unrestrained greed to maximizing profits, while leaving no stone unturned to spread misleading ideas and funding big institutions and media to spread such canard.

I'm not even speaking of H.sapiens "growth", I'm referring to our actual present population, and of the past 300 years. We need a drastic population drop.

The population growth issue is going to have to be addressed, one way or another. Religious people should know better than encourage large families and prevent contraception. Once again, religion proves to be part of the problem and not part of the solution. Even the fact well-meaning people take food and medicines to starving populations instead of challenging causes of poverty only delays the inevitable.

And as usual, people are still refusing that the no.1 agent threatening biodiversity is the population of Homo sapiens. When will this travesty end?

Study Identifies 15 Top Threats to Biodiversity

"Widespread development of nuclear power and seabed-located oil drilling are among the top 15 threats to biodiversity in 2013, according to a new study published this month in the journalTrends in Ecology & Evolution."

Beth Brogan, staff writer

Biofuels seemed to "promise to be a green alternative to fossil fuels, but no-one anticipated that pristine rainforest would be cleared for them."

fossil fuel independence, energy independence. Separate these two issues. Oil is in well defined decline since 2000. Ladder for growth ...?
