USAgain is a green for-profit enterprise that collects used clothes and resells them worldwide to conserve precious natural resources and greenhouse gases. We provide thousands of convenient locations across the U.S. where you can drop off your gently used clothes and shoes any time of the day, any day of the year. For the clothes you no longer use, we provide an easy, eco-friendly way to remove them from your closet! What's more, the clothes are given a second life at affordable prices for people who can't afford brand new clothes. It's a win-win-win proposition.

Our Impact

At USAgain, we work for people, for planet and for profit. Our mission is to make a positive impact for people and planet by operating a sound and sustainable business, following the highest ethical standards.

For People we contribute to the well being of those whose means give only the choice of no new clothes or used new clothes. We also provide a source of income for people with job opportunities at our company here in the US and for those in developing countries who resell the clothes we supply.

For Planet we contribute to the sensible use of our land by transforming clothing and textiles into reusable and valuable products rather than letting them waste away in landfills. Extending the life of clothing works to encourage the sensible use of our planet and preserve our precious resources.

We are proud to run a modern For Profit company that is growing and creating jobs in a sustainable green industry. We contribute to the local and state economy by paying salaries and taxes, and purchasing goods and services from other local businesses. We also contribute to the success of other non- and for-profit recycling endeavors by providing a consistent and reasonably priced source of good reusable clothing for resale.

There are many ways to get involved.

You can drop off clothes and shoes at any of our 8,000 unattended or attended sites nationwide.

You can sponsor a collection bin on your property.

You can organize a collection drive at your school.

You can volunteer to help sort and distribute donations to local people in need.

Hmm, this reminds me a little of the Re-Burger scam perpetrated by the YES MEN. "Save resources, reduce waste, sell our crap (literally) to the third world." You know, all these third world countries are already manufacturing all these cheap clothes were wearing, and now we're going to ship our rejects back to them? and make them pay for it?? There's something inherently condescending about this company. Now if they were not for profit, maybe... but they want to profit from this?? We do have plenty of poor people here in North America who need clothing, for free.

Well, that's certainly one way of looking at it. But still, it's better to resell clothes than to send them to a landfill. I'm not opposed to what they are doing at all, though I will admit to being skeptical about the green spin they've placed on it. People have been reselling clothes for, like, forever. It's nothing new. The green aspect they promote is more like greenwashing. Still, I'd rather give my clothes away than put them in the trash.

 

Also, they're surely not all "rejects." For example, some of my clothes are just too small for me now, but not in bad shape.

A part of it is I just don't think donated goods should be sold, to me that's an excellent example of where capitalists will do absolutely anything for a buck :(

Well, if it is stated up front I don't have much of a problem with it. Some non-profits actually run thrift stores where donated things are resold. But if they are pretending to be a charity but acutally are for-profit, that's something entirely different.

 

Besides, people can donate elsewhere if they don't want to go with a for-profit business. I use Freecycle all the time.
