We'll see what happens.  I see this is a non-active group.  And, having joined, I would be the only male.  Still....  we don't worry about pre-conceptions on Nexus.  I've met a number of guys who crochet, knit, and do other craft-type things.

I need some activities that require less physical strength and stamina than in even the recent past.  There was a time I did woodworking, turning bowels, plates, and trinkets on a lathe.  I also did a fair amount of refinishing.  No bona fide cabinet making but I have re-engineered some furniture.  I also re-upholstered some soft chairs, a long time ago.

Today I took it on myself to re-learn how to use a sewing machine.  Complicated!  But doable.

The first project was make a bow tie.  I wear them at work.  I have old, straight ties that I don't wear.  Some are favorites.   If I re-engineer them, I can wear them again.  This first attempt was OK.  This was scrap from the fabric store, holiday theme.  I figured if I ruined it, no loss.  Not perfect but better than I expected.  A couple more tries and I think I can do it.  Not quitting my day job yet  :-)

I've been knitting again lately. My sister's having her kid soon and it's actually cold now. I plan on starting on my sister's birthday/christmas gift soon--a cozy open sweater that's got a drapefront made of lace.

Nice to have you, Cheryl, and your crafting sounds very interesting, but as you can see this group here at Atheist Nexus isn't very active. I invite you or any other crafter here to join the Atheists and Agnostic Crafters at Ravelry. We are pretty active and have a lot of fun.

Hello!  I do a lot of crafty type things, mostly during the winter though. I spin my own yarn (on a drop spindle), knit, crochet, make soap, bath oils and salts.  Hope to get back to sewing soon - getting a sewing machine sometime in the next month or so.  That's about it.  Nice to be here!

Thank you, Steph! Now I have to decide which project/kit to make next.  I have another stocking kit, a couple of ornament kits, and a Santa wall hanging...not to mention the sewing, crocheting, and reading I want to do! :)
