A Place For The Kids

It all started here as a smiley face thread for kids to post in. A place for kids to post was proposed and here it is.

Be it posting smiley faces or sharing ideas, this is a place just for kids to interact with one another in a safe environment. Because of the rules of the site, kids 13 and under must post here with their parents guidance.

If your children have expressed an interest in what you are doing here, this is a great way for them to join in and feel included as well as get a shot and playing on the internet.

In an effort to keep the ambiance light and enjoyable, please keep the focus on the kids and what they want to talk about. This is not a place to "recruit young atheists," or something of that nature.

Thanks a lot!

I agree with Bruce that "Children of the Damned" seems to accept the standards of theists. Why should they define us? This is especially relevant to the way children, who are often defined by others, might think of themselves. Hence, it is especially relevant to this group.

Many years ago, after I had started the Church of Nature, I created a children's prayer poster. I still have some (almost thirty years later). It has a medium dark green background a picture of a child's profile front-lighted so it fades into the backround. The two "prayers" are:

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray my lovely dreams will keep
Til tomorrow's sky is bright and blue.
Then I'll make my dreams come true.

and

I am me
and you are you.
Let me be free
To grow straight and true,
And I'll honor your freedom too.

If anyone would like one of these, on heavy paper suitable for framing, email me trough Atheist Nexus.

When my 16 month old learns to type, she may come to this group if she chooses to.

I taught academically gifted middle school Language Arts (6th, 7th, and 8th) for six years. Here's a poem I wrote for my seventh graders one year when we were practicing poetry.

All You Need Is Words

It's only words, the Beatles said,
Only words that fill our heads.
But our words will go way beyond "only,"
On beyond zebra and people who are lonely.
We'll share our words and care for our words
And make them stand for great ideas.
They'll be special and hopeful
And maybe even wise.
I wouldn't even be surprised
If they didn't rise to...
Well, you get the idea.
They won't be only words,
They'll be OUR words,
And we will love them
And love our listeners with them
And that is all you need.

Bugs, I think I've been convinced - I'm now a Young-Earth Alienist!

Response to Doc from Bugs age 5.

Story of Earth's creation.

2,000 years ago aliens made their children, humans. Then the humans started being able to make their own children and there got to be too many people, so they made them a separate planet, Earth, where they could live.
That way the aliens would not get mad at them and kill them because it was so crowded and the aliens were much smarter.

I'd like to see a few kids produce stories for other kids... That would be some worthy reading, eh?

Since it's 1 am Bugs is asleep. It will be hard not to 'over help', but I can't wait to see his responses.
BTW Lolo, We read 3 Norse God stories to him, including Loki, yesterday
