I am a libertaian-minded Republican, i guess. Have Objectivist views.
Feel bullied by both the Left and the Right, both wanting me to live by their rules. Can't commit to the Libertian party because I do beleive in regulation. Like Ayn Rand said, gov't should act as referee. I think one of the reasons so many people turn "Left" is becuase the regulations we now have are not enforced and that a few more regualtions/rules should be added. Happy about the proposed anti-earmark rule. Now if they could make it illegal for the gov't to overspend. Make a rule where an official can be personally libel for overspending. These people misbehave then leave and the public gets to live with the wreckage.

Edward: We had a pretty spirited debate on the gun issue, but since so many of us agree on quite a few things (i.e. no God, small government etc...) it seems hard to have a debate. Maybe I'll try to think of some hot button issue that we may differ on and see what happens.

Hey people. While I am sure everyone in this group has their own set of ideas, I get the feeling we can all agree that they who govern least, govern best.
Thanks for having me. I'm looking forward to some good debates here.

Tristan,
Too many non-theists have replaced the idea of the supremacy of God in their lives with the idea a supreme government.

Instead of using the fear of god to force people into living as they would have them live, they now push for government to fill that void. And if you disagree with them then you must be mentally defective in some. Is this sounding familiar? Kind of like the rhetoric used by theists and non-theist against each other?

Until people discover that it is OK to believe, not believe, or believe a bit of this and a bit of that, as long as you are not attempting to force others to follow your beliefs we will not know peace.

Oh I hear you Ryan. I'm considered Middle Class, or I was... we now struggle from pay check to pay check. We have two kids and paid over 3000 in payroll taxes this year, yet together owe another 400 ish. Meanwhile my daughter needs surgery on her foot, and I have been paying for her to go on a school trip to the East Coast to see all of our American landmarks and New York. It just seems as if you look to be middle class, they have no mercy on you. I could go on, but I'm really tired of bitching about how our family is being shafted after I got my degree and have a well paying job and am trying to realize the American dream and all that jazz.
