The "CLIMATE CONCERNS" group is dedicated to discussion regarding the topic of the ever present and serious issue of changes to our climate due to the introduction into the atmosphere of human induced effects which prove harmful to the environment and which eventually may prove destructive to our planet.

Comment by Bobbi Cadence on May 8, 2013 at 7:59pm Hi there! I am new to Atheistnexus, and I am not online much.
I am also on FB, Ravelry, and I have a wordpress-blog.

I do not consider myself a "weak" Atheist simply because I am NOT 100% Sure that God-Gods-Goddess Exist or not. I simply say I don't know, but I live my life according to the "natural laws" of this planet, NOT the bible written thousands of years ago when people "knew" the earth was flat.
"... MANY people ... think they are the center of the universe."
Surely we can be more intelligent than cats!
Comment by booklover on April 22, 2013 at 3:28pm I think MANY people live in their own little world and think they are the center of the universe. Oh, and they're dumb. ;)
Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on April 22, 2013 at 12:20pm Joe Barton is a poster child for Willful ignorance. Thanks Dr. Clark.
In some cases I think public ignorance of climate change reflects our narrow view of our world. Most people don't really grasp that we live on a water planet. When they imagine temperature change, only what their home thermometer reads makes sense to them. If the air isn't getting hot as fast as it had been, they're easily convinced that global warming has stopped. That most of the rising heat occurs in the ocean can be as hard to fathom as invisible dark energy. Here's a nice comparison. source
Comment by Idaho Spud on April 17, 2013 at 8:00am Wow. What tortured reasoning. Glad I decided against moving to Texas.
Comment by booklover on April 15, 2013 at 8:32am Wow Dr. Allan, I think you can't even begin to argue with people who think like that (in the Mother Jones article.) He said he doesn't want to live in a country that "shakes down" people and corporations. So I wish he'd move.
Comment by Dr. Allan H. Clark on April 14, 2013 at 9:46pm This article is about a Texas Congressman who thinks that Noah's Ark refutes climate change.

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on April 13, 2013 at 12:09pm Thanks Joan for bringing Michael Marshall's article to our attention. This new data waves a big red flag. I posted a reply about it in Eco-Logical too.
