Christopher Mims and Stephanie Gruner Buckley excellent article buries the lead. Hidden inside the video is news that if we don't halt the CO2 rise and begin steep decline within 5 years, which today is seen as impossible, by 2,300 the average temperature will be 12 degrees C higher. We're talking about guaranteeing extinction if we can't do that "impossible" feat.
In the British sci-fi series Primeval, the future was portrayed as a barren world plagued by deadly dust storms. Now we learn that such future climate, absent the fanciful monsters, will be locked in if we don't stop business as usual very very soon.
