Alan has just posted a long article in his Proboard CBED page on "Atheists more intelligent than believers" - See http://biblicalerrancy.freeforums.net/index.cgi?action=display&...
Sorry Magic, I can only confirm that Loren participates in Nature or God, a Lefora group.
We know the answer and have done for years. The whole thing is a con plagiarised from earlier Egyptian beliefs.
Obviously Ancient Egyptians are upset about what has been done to their religion and are showing their contempt in Manchester Museum.
Wow...it's been almost 8-10 years since I've seen/participated in this group originally on MSN groups. How is everyone? Is it still active? Hope you found the answer you were looking for. You have been reading about Him all this time...now it's time for Him to find YOU...
There doesn't seem to be much activity here. Hi Paul.
Does anyone know what has happened to Alan?
With Multiply closing down on 1st December I have been busy copying many threads from CBED and My Site on Multiply.
If enough are interested I shall start placing them here.
Thanks, Joan, and hope you are well. This group should grow and grow since the subject is hands down my favorite; I just didn't realize it. From earliest years, I dodged Sunday school because I knew more about the Booble than the lay "teachers" did; knew more, or intuited its total bullshit. We would sneak off and drink cherry cokes at Mac's Drive-Inn down the hill. But the errancy of which you speak goes quite beyond my childish imaginings: you and Dawkins hit the nail on the head. Women were not created by evolution to stay in the cave but to come out into the light of day and to be equals to the male of the species; they are only divided for love's sake, perchance to unite. Obedience to a male should be abhorrent to a woman: who is he to reduce me to the second class status of a "helpmate." We have all too many Stepford Wives in this country. Ladies, Break the Spell. Wake up and smell the atheist-brewed coffee, which tastes of science and reason and denounces myth and superstition. I actually believe these misogynist assholes cling yet today to the notion of the wound of original sin. Romney does.
1st Foundational Falsehood of Creationismhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnJX68ELbAYRichard Dawkins Interviews Ted Haggardhttp://youtu.be/mmMv0ceWTVQOBEDIENCEHaving been instructed to obey, without regard for the reasonableness of such an imperative nor provided definition about what had to be endured, and having heard countless stories of other women told to obey their abusive husbands, doubts about all imperatives given by religion sprouted and grew. There was no answer other than stories of creation and all the expectations placed upon women. Stories told by men to men gave them authority to dominate, and to women gave them requirement to submit. Well, that detail cleared up with denunciation of religion and all who would be so arrogant, so filled with hubris, that the whole subject has become comedy ... except for the tragedy it imposes on countless good and decent people. I know I am not created to be obedient, but rather to participate in life with all my thinking, acting, and feelings. PARTICIPATE, it is interesting, enriching, and fun.
I do my laundry Sunday mornings at a nearby washateria, not bad as these establishments go. Only problem: the TV comes on when the automatic door unlocks, letting me in, and I have to do my laundry to the accompaniment of a pasty-faced, plump, badly-dyed blonde with one of those Southern Baptist vocal inflections going more off the map than a coloratura, soaring epiphanies included: in a word, nauseating. What especially gets to me, though, is some vague, esoterically, more often historically/anthropologically important patch of O.T. script and trying to explain its obvious applications to anything happening in an age of Science and Reason.
New to the group. Finding errors and just plain nonsensical parts of the Bible was one of the main reasons I was able to leave Christianity. Having had moral reservations to the god of the Bible and having read about historical inaccuracies I decided to read the Bible with a more critical eye, but hoping for some kind of confirmation of my waning faith. What I found instead was a flawed, and quite ridiculous book that I could not believe I thought was inspired by a divine being.
