You want a simple answer? 'Cos there isn't a single easy one. The common cause I see from which many arms of the problem can be drawn is that these people fundamentally have a low feeling of self-worth, and must therefore do things to establish a feeling of normalcy and comfort, a comfort that will come at the expense of anything that invades their conceptual space and makes them feel anything other than an accepted, acceptable, normal person.
The irony is, we don't care nearly as much about them as we care about the stupid shit they do.

I'm 'out' to whoever asks. Unlike theists, I don't randomly ambush people with my opinions concerning the Great Sky Daddy. Mostly, I disappoint people more with my skeptical view of Bigfoot and alternative medicine.

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone.
