I don't know if you all are Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal fans or not, but this is a hilarious video concerning creationism. There's even a Ray Comfort reference!

Currently listening to episode 36, wherein you discuss the court decision on that dumb fuckin' Homeland Security office here in Kentucky from earlier in the year.

While I always cringe whenever I hear my fair state maligned, I have to admit that describing Kentucky as "the gut that hangs over the Bible Belt" as pretty goddam accurate. Not to mention hilarious.

So, I just finished episode 14: Hate-Free Atheism. I have to admit that I am indeed a snarky douche and would love to play tit-for-tat games with those "God Speaks" billboards. If I had the money I'd put this up on the side of the highway in 30 foot high letters:

"Claim to speak for god? It's not your mouth you're talkin' out of."

Too much or too subtle?

One more point. Extended families -- relatives and in-laws -- used to be the social security and health care of early times. A marriage was a union planned for the security it brought the bride's or groom's family. I believe that's why arranged marriages were so important, and romantic marriages were excoriated.

Allow me to place a lightly longer view on religious sexuality, it's true that "productive sex" was a goal of several religions, especially the middle eastern religions that have grown to so much prominence today. Taking a longer view than Jacqueline, there is not so much the question of the creation of a lower working class, but of survival against a hostile environment, the history of that region is ridden with strife. One might think that this might lead to more promiscuous sexual behavior, but remember that while adults were an asset to these early tribes, children were a burden, so enforcing responsibility and the seeing through that these children grew up with the knowledge and skills to be productive to the tribe was of equal importance. These practices may have been kept to the dogmatic core because later rulers who adopted these religions found them useful but it is far from the original intent. One must take the evolutionary and historical critical view of these dogmatic teachings for them to make some level of sense.

At 5'7", I'd look like a giant ewok or a adolescent wookie.
