OK... A few things.

When RUSSIA invaded the Soviet Union??? Ooooookay...

Also, Engels was German who went to work in a textile firm in Manchester, England. He met Marx in Paris, and helped write the Communist Manifesto in Brussels.

Bonestroo Chisum! There's a Deadlands Reloaded PC if ever their was one. In fact:

"Reverned" Bonestroo Chisum (Wild Card)

Description: Male, Age: 32, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Black, Skin: Caucasian , Build: Muscular,

Appearance: Wears dirty, patched clothes and his unkempt black hair and several days of stubble. "Wild eyed." Often paces and mumbles to himself as if in a conversation with someone that isn't there.

Story: Always considered "touched in the head" Bonestroo wanders the Weird West spreading what he claims to be the "word" of God and fighting "Satan's kin." Bonstroo believes that God talks directly to him, and he will often talk right back to his Lord, openly, loudly, and usually in the most socially unacceptable situation. While he claims to be a "Reverend," he has no actually theological training at all except what he gleaned from half-remembered childhood church services. In fact, he can't even read at all--which makes his "expert" knowledge of the Bible highly suspect. (He's not actually lying since the voices in his head tell him that they are true.) When God's word fails, he quickly turns to his trusty shotgun, an 1869 Colt revolver, or his favorite weapon, a large wooden cross that he wields as a club.

I gaffed... but this is admittedly a bigger gaff than Eli's; he just misspoke. For this episode we really only looked at the communist dictators of the 20th century and not the communist philosophers of the 19th century. My recollection of Engels and Marx comes from reading the Communist Manifesto more than 15 years ago. Anyhoo... my bad =P

Don't sweat... I'm a nerd. Nitpicking is in my blood.

I was able to crank out that PC in about 20 minutes using Metacreator. Who says that atheism means you lack imagination and creativity? (Besides the Bible-beaters!)

Marx was born in what is now Germany. At the time, it was still Prussia. His parents converted from Judaism to Christianity to improve their career. Marx was a contributor to a left wing paper that was eventually shut down. Marx was forced out of Prussia and was exiled to France. Prussia pressured France to arrest Marx and send him back to Prussia.

Once Marx was in England, The British government didn't feel that Marx was a threat to them so they left him alone even though the Prussian government was still trying to get Marx extradited.

Interesting idea for a topic, I know we've got a good number of listeners from outside the US, but considering the US influence on the world It will still probably be quite interesting. We'll throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.

I was wondering where the actual citations you used for this are.

I am currently discussing this very topic (what Stalin's motivations for persecution of Christians were) and while I was able to find some Russian Orthodox websites, it would help to have the sources you used somewhere.

Then again, I'm essentially blind and probably just haven't seen them.
