One of most accessible essay on Carvaka/Lokayata philosophy I have read is Materialism in India: A Synoptic View written by Prof Ramkrishna Bhattacharya. Though he has written a number of highly technical essays on Indian materialist philosophy, this particular essay stands out because he has, in this essay, almost completely eschewed sanskrit terminology that sometimes keep away readers who are not familiar with Sanskrit.
Hence this essay can be a starting point for any discussion on this topic for whoever join this group in future. Though we have created this group, we don't know how to popularize it.
