Cancer

If you have cancer.

If you had cancer.

If you know someone with cancer.

If you want to talk about cancer.

We won't pray.  We won't blame gods.  We won't give credit to gods.

We face the diagnosis and know, it is what it is.

To the extent that we can, we will define our own course.

Cancer

Cancer changes lives.

We have to deal with medical profession.

We have to deal with medications.

We have to deal with new discomfort and pain.

We have to create dignity, where there is indignity.

We have to deal with family members, friends, coworkers, and strangers, in a changed way.

We resolve to go forward with strength, resilience, purpose, pride, and integrity.

We define ourselves. Cancer does not define us.

I agree with Dr. Meaden!  I'm glad for the good report Daniel.  I can commmiserate about the rebelling digestive system, but for different reasons.

Thank you both for sharing this past year.  It helps others to understand what people who have had cancer go through.

To Daniel, Joan and everyone else, it brings reassurance to us all to hear reports like these about the good news of stability.

Thanks for the update, Sentient,  you can go on like you've done these months! I take my hat off to you, for having heavy challenges like yours while you remain gentle and attentive to everyone here. Have a good 1 year anniversary!

Joan, my oncologist expects 3 years total on medication.  The jury is out on that because it is so new.  We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I am almost to the 1 year anniversary - as are you!  Such a journey for you!  So glad you are here, but I wish you didn't have to go through it too!

Daniel, very good news that things are stable, no new growth or growths revealed. Side effects being your new normal, I sincerely hope they are within a tolerable range. I wonder if fatigue ever goes away, even as you have stayed very active through treatment. Gastro rebellion presents a tough challenge; being prepared helps, but it still means being out of control.

OK, that is the new reality. Given that, my wish for you is that you find comfort, peace and joy! Take good care my friend.

Hey all.

Here's my own cancer update.  I saw oncologist yesterday.  No new news.   Next scan in 6 months.  The side effects of medication are my normal way of being now.  Vision is stable.  Fatigue is unchanged.  Gastrointestinal tract remains in rebellion.

Overall OK.  Very appreciative that we have this forum for discussion.  It's made more difference than I can express.  Thank you. all.

There's also a website "autocowrecks"; I believe it's part of Cheezburger.
