Cancer

If you have cancer.

If you had cancer.

If you know someone with cancer.

If you want to talk about cancer.

We won't pray.  We won't blame gods.  We won't give credit to gods.

We face the diagnosis and know, it is what it is.

To the extent that we can, we will define our own course.

Cancer

Cancer changes lives.

We have to deal with medical profession.

We have to deal with medications.

We have to deal with new discomfort and pain.

We have to create dignity, where there is indignity.

We have to deal with family members, friends, coworkers, and strangers, in a changed way.

We resolve to go forward with strength, resilience, purpose, pride, and integrity.

We define ourselves. Cancer does not define us.

Daniel, I am rooting for you. Like all of us, I know the feeling of waiting for those precious results to arrive.

Daniel, I will be thinking of you as you wait for your results. <3

I get the feeling this is not the healthiest bunch of people....  :-)

Joan my hours are down  to about 50 but I don't keep track.  There is a lot of on-line work, which I don't know how to account for.  My brain gets foggy.  There is mental and physical and I am worn out on both.  Ning thinks I should quit work, and forfeit retirement.  I don't think I can do that.

I'm early stages of all this and don't know where it's going to go. I'm still very strong but I have shortness of breath. I had an aversion to one fluid pill and made the doctor remove it. So far we have not been prescribed any others. Strong as a horse, but sometimes I have to take an afternoon nap these days.

My husband is on 2 fluid meds for just that reason Michael. His fluid build up was in the lungs though & damn near killed him before he finally got his defibrillator/pacemaker.

My innards create ascites which is a fluid buildup in the abdominal cavity. My doctor calls this the "beginning of congestive heart failure" but I don't see that anybody is doing anything about it. They say if they drain it, it will just come right back.

Daniel, are you putting in 70 hour weeks at the hospital? Surely not! With travel time, and the usual everyday chores that need doing, you know you have to monitor your time and set limits on what you do. Oh! Please do take good care of yourself! Your patients will understand, and hopefully the admin. will too.

Daniel, sounds as though you have a straight pipe through your intestines, with flowing barium. Do hope the scan clearly reveals all that needs to be seen.

Your description of the nail trimming machine sounds dreadful. Poor fellow! Hope he is doing better. My podiatrist trims my toenails on nine week intervals, giving me much relief. Wish he could help the man you portrayed.

Thinking of you Daniel! Are you having a heat wave? We have, and I am just not able to handle it. That may explain your fatigue. In any even, my thoughts remain with you as the update comes in.

I have all the gastric issues, but not due to cancer. IBS, neuropathy of the digestive system, GERD. I've had a Nissen Fundoplication, which doesn't even work anymore. Gastro issues are terrible, because they limit your activities. I want to get a part - time job now that my kids are adults, but it would have to be very accommodating. Also, it's embarrassing to have the symptoms. Meds help, but not completely.
