any one in alameda?

I am in alameda and have had a cold reception about it.

get or make an atheist tshirt and walk around with it. see what kind of reactions you get. in a coffee shop openly read the DAWKs book "god delusion".

just come out publicly and others may have the same courage.

dont be afraid to have conversations and make them audible to those around you.

you gota come out publicly or your views will mean nothing.

@Sarah R - Yep, I see there is an active Monterey skeptics group. Skepticism is fun, but I'm more interested in the religion side of things right now. It would be good to begin getting more atheists to come out of the woodwork. I know there are plenty around.  After one of the Morgan Hill Times wrote a good article on atheism, I was inspired to start pulling some together, so I started a yahoo group "South Santa Clara County Atheists", but only succeeded in getting that one journalist to join, as I haven't had a chance to advertise. If you think we can find a few more, that would be enough for an informal meetup.

I'm in Hollister, not far from Monterey or San Jose.  There is a skeptics meet-up group but I've not attended yet.

@Bryanderthal - Sometimes I think it is (not in miles, but in attitude).  I guess I should visit bible belt states more.

Ah, Morgan Hill. I was born there and lived there until I was 7. My dad's whole family still lives in Morgan Hill and San Martin. Heck we have a street there named after us. ;) If I still lived there I would have a beer with you, but alas I live elsewhere. I still remember that place fondly.

The Rednecks are coming, the Rednecks are coming

Actually, the rednecks are here and everywhere. Let me say, I'm not a big fan of these people. That's putting it mildly. Need I describe them? You know who I mean. This seems to be the time of year when they come out of the woodwork. Here in Indiana, as the weather gets nice, the motorcyclists are out in full force. I hate the noise cycles make. Then there's the Indianapolis 500 fans, the majority of which are rednecks. Interview them or a typical Pacer fan (big news as they face the Miami…See More
