I live in the SF Bay Area, We are an African American Atheist family (well, okay, one is agnostic, but that is not MY fault!!). We are trying to locate more Bay Area Atheist meetups and groups of rational people!

I'm in Modesto, CA. Would love to go to some local freethinker get togethers.

Mind Dancr, you have it wrong.

The salutary effect is due to the effects of standing on one's head Down Under. This increases the blood flow to the brain thereby growing stronger and more Tunnel-resistant neurons. Of course, it helps that we have the metric system, which almost doubles all axon measurements thereby allowing them to connect over longer distances. Australia uses 240 volts instead of the pissy 110 in use here. This doubled voltage provides more power to the neurons who respond with greater output.

A government sponsored controlled breeding program has resulted in better educated medical practitioners and scientists who are able to practice and submit papers to international journals after completion of a 5 year bachelor degree in medicine. The effects on Australia's medical research projects has been dramatic. There are more world-shattering medical discoveries made per Australian head than there are per American head. These programs, plus the national health insurance scheme has resulted in better medical care and the survival of better cortical material in the population as a whole.

As for the toilets, the normal water rotation in the cisterns allows them to drain properly. They don't block up like they do here.

(Yes, this is an example of Aussie humor. To be taken with the proverbial grain or two of salt.)

Rosemary says, of the Caldicot Tunnel effect, that "it does not work on" her, being an Aussie. It's probably due to too many years of exposure to backward flushing toilets.

Here I am! I just joined today. :-) I'm back in my hometown of San Jose after 17 years in Los Angeles...glad to be back by my redwoods, though I do miss my friends and some of the activities in SoCal.
