I Think - Even here in the Bay Area, where we have a large non-religious population, there isn't as much activity as you'd expect.  I guess it's easy to be complacent when we don't see the same issues as you would in the central valley.  Anyway, Chris G is right.  Start a Modesto meetup group or join the one in Los Banos.  Our group in Morgan Hill is growing steadily.  Also, do searches here on AN for members in your area and prod them to join a meetup.

 california is associated with liberals and hippies but in the central valley i hardly know any atheist.. i know bigger cities like san francisco however have people who care less about religion and of course more atheist.. modesto though seems tobe heading the opposite direction however!! cant lie. it sucks

Hi franky, what town do you live in? I've found that there are a lot more atheists in California than you might realize. Most people just keep it to themselves, but will talk about if if asked. Of course if you ask a fundamentalist religionist you might not like the results.

Welcome, franky.  I've found that there are atheists lurking in my own small town of Merced.  You might be surprised who is there, but remaining silent.

usic... a big void for Secular and sensible people !!!

We need to have a fully produced cd of great music that will appeal to humanists, atheists, rationalists but most of all people who passionately enjoy music with reasonable expectations about life and death... there is the question of funding , We have 32 years plus in the music/entertainment biz.If you have any interest in be part of this major project and transformation, please contact me.  I know you are out there either with funds or with talent, who agree our message must be heard,
