At last! I was hoping to find some BC residents here. I'm in Surrey (by choice), not far from New Westminster, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.

Hey hey Peter, I'm in New West right now, though moving to vancouver proper in about 2 week. Welcome to the group.

I'm starting an informal talk show on evolution and atheism. Send me an mp3 of your thoughts or come record a show with me. My first show is up http://tribalevolutionshow.wordpress.com/

Is there anyone in the Fraser Valley? Even one person, just one. You don't have to talk to me, just let me know I'm not alone. I've been in Abbotsford for about seven years and haven't met anyone who doesn't believe in god, reincarnation, ESP or some such nonsense. Hello, anyone..., agnostic, humanist... I met one guy (christian) who said his fathers dog was so smart it was just about to talk when it died. Gimme a break! I'll shoot myself if there isn't anyone here. I have 2 sisters here, both christians and one doesn't even believe in evolution. I don't get it. No Evidence=believe Proven=don't believe I'd better stop now, before I sound needy, bitter, fed up and frustrated. BTW how do you get a fundamentalist to burn their ear?
You phone them while they are ironing.

Hey Dan, you're not alone, don't worry! I'm also in Abbotsford and just as dumbfounded/frustrated by the local churchies here and lack of logic and reason. There are a few of us hiding in Abby I think! I know UFV has some sort of atheist/humanist meetup, but sadly they only meet Fridays at lunch time as far as I know which doesn't really work for someone like me who works during the day.

Good to hear Jonny, thanks. I've marked this on my calendar as a "first contact" and put the gun back in the safe. I work days too but I'm going to try to check out UFV and see if I can make it to a meetup.

Hey everyone, I just joined this lovely looking group. Yes, I am normally this cheerful, doesn't help that I have had a couple of beers tonight. I am over in the lovely Greater Vancouver Region, Richmond to be specific. I think I shall poke around some more. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Ok, we hit the 30 person mark. I give you all a thousand atheist star point. Hazah!

Don't spend those all in one place.

I'm considering making us a logo, please feel free to mail bomb me with any fun ideas. Make sure to include a lot of swearing, as that this seems to be the ongoing trend from Christians who find my blogs. If i get no ideas, it will result in me putting on the bunny suit from last Halloween, dressing him up like an atheist super hero, and taking pictures in my backyard. We don't need this, my neighbors already think I'm insane ever since we kidnapped their Persian cat and washed it in blue kool aid. They can't pin it on us, but I think were on the top of their suspects list.

For those of you in the interior there are a couple of groups to be aware of, The Kamloops Center For Rational Though and Center For Inquiry Okanagan (formerly Kelowna Atheists and Freethinkers). I'm hoping to start building a network into the rest of the interior as well.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
