Group for lower mainland atheists

Hey all,

Just wanted to throw this out there... we had a great meetup in Abbotsford on Sunday, with 10 very friendly attendees from Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and other surrounding areas. We decided to make a Google Groups mailing list to coordinate future meetups as well as discuss religion in local, world, or a general sense, and of course to just get to know one another! The past few days have been very encouraging, and I hope to keep meeting like-minded folks in the days and weeks to come! The group is Abbotsford-based, but anyone is welcome to join, and of course attend events if you feel like making the drive from surrounding areas.

Were you the guys who brought PZ there? What was the attendance?

Yeah CFI as well as the UFV ASH club organized the PC talk. I wasn't able to make it due to work but apparently there were around 30 people there from both sides of the fence.

I started a Facebook group, BC Interior Atheists Skeptics and Humanists with the intention of providing a place for people from smaller centers to network. There is someone on there from Prince George. That's the best I can do.

Just an update, this group is still going VERY strong over 2 years later :)

It's still a very casual and social group - no set topics or mandatory attendance; show up and leave whenever you like, grab a coffee or sandwich and just chat with fellow atheists/agnostics/etc.

We still have new members showing up almost every week, typically 10-15 people engaged in a few casual conversations at our Sunday meetup. Some members take a more active approach and organize debates or events on the side.
