Documentation of black atheism, freethought, & humanism on the web can be found in my atheist web guide.

See also my working bibliography.

I also have a general interest blog, Reason & Society.

Some of you may also be interested in some of my other projects, e.g. The Autodidact Project, my Studies in a Dying Culture (blog), and my Emergence blog. You can also listen to my podcasts: my Internet radio show is called "Studies in a Dying Culture," hosted by Think Twice Radio.

I must agree with the last few comments wholeheartedly. I live in the South (the bible-belt, more precisely) and I honestly don't even KNOW anybody, my own family included, who is a freethinker. It's actually extremely frustrating and saddening.

That being said, it's really a breath of fresh air to see not one, not two, but an actual GROUP of black people who aren't blinded by superstitious nonsense.

!Viva La BlackFreeThought! :-)

Finally, I've found you guys. I knew rational freethinking brothers and sisters existed but damn if they aren't hard to find. Even those that don't look at me sideways still believe "just to be safe". Which is totally ridiculous. Well I'm just happy to have found a group of peers.

proof rather than faith huh? I'm amazed as well

I can't begin to express my giddycrazyhappiness at the existence of this group. That there are enough black freethinkers even just on this site to form a sizable group. I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one, but . . . it's so nice to have proof :)

It's great to see new people joining up and participating. It would facilitate dialogue, however, if comments on specific, discussable topics be introduced via the START DISCUSSION option rather than ADD COMMENT.

I am 29 years old and have been studying the worlds monotheistic religions since age 16. All of them stem from Egypt culture and were changed into relgion to control the minds of the people especially Africans who were force fed that nonsense

I would think free thought will be a little more acceptable in the coming years. I was happy to see non believers addressed in the presidents inaugural speech.
