It's a large nation, and I don't get to see much of it up close. What you describe pretty much accords with what everyone else says and what I would have said a few years ago. But aside from the black atheist women in the DC area, look how many are popping up on the Internet. Long distance relationships are a pain, but at least you know they're out there somewhere. But the gender imbalance is still a phenomenon to be explained. I wonder whether there are differences among different ethnic groups, nationalities, and religious groups in this respect. In the past, women were less free, so their minds were less free, it seems.

You wouldn't believe some of the hot atheist black babes I've met in DC . . . oops, is it PC to say this? More importantly, it's a development that would have been hard to imagine a generation ago, perhaps even a decade ago.

I tell ya, going back to read these posts every now and then just gives me goosebumps. Good to see people waking up and especially encouraging is the amount of Black women---beautiful Black women mind ya---that are looking for ways to help other sisters out the cult.

Woot!!!

We freethinkers will try to liberate as many as we can, but guys like this will religiously imprison as much as he can.

I'm an open and non-apologetic non-believer and I don't ever let them pimp the Jesus-juice in my zone :)

I had to become almost militant in my approach b/c I got tired of Christians oversteppng their bounds---religious emails, thank-ya-Jezaaahhs, saying grace over my food I just bought...LOL. I really think religion has taken hold of this country b/c we allowed this shit to go too far.

We need to start speaking up, asking them to take that nonsense elsewhere when we hear it, admonish our brothers and sisters (all colors and creed) to do the same. Eventually we'll wake up the masses.

I am not angry though just disappointed. In order not to be hypocrites we can only use intellect to fight. I dont think the slaves would have been freed if they were not completely religiousize or else a holy war would have occured against christianity. In modern times our best weapon is attention like I indicated in a discussion I posted. Somehow we got to get the message out. A rebel has to enter the main stream media spotlight. I cant see why any hasnt popped up. Not one sports star, actor, anchor or singer. It goes to show blacks have to find other means to obtain fame. As traditional mediums require conformism.

The sad thing is most Blacks don't realize that, it has been the CHURCH that has oppressed them more, and even today it is the case.. In terms of govt oppression there is much we can do to combat that but this church for some reason preaches to turn the other cheek... That has got to stop, rebel, become angry, ACT!
