Over the last two years I have lost a number of close relatives but it is hard for me to deal with theists telling me that they are in a better place when I am at the funeral or memorial.

I just came across a book by Kersey Graves titled Biography of Satan. Has anyone read it?

We still continue giving credence to the false notion that we are inferior to our white counter paths, because we black people are of the devil's spawn and white people are the chosen children of God.

I've never met anyone who literally stated such a thing.

But if you translate "chosen children of God" into "came out better historically" this would be true in the sense that we tend to look down on the victims and the oppressed.  Morality is aligned with power and money to some extent, and this is probably a basic part of human nature.

Greetings. I've been away preoccupied with other things the past couple months. I was at the March yesterday but arrived so late there's nothing I can say about it except that I got to shake hands with Martin Luther King III. Judging by the speakers and organizers, it was too tied to the Democratic Party, in a very different way than the civil rights leaders of 50 years ago  had a movement behind them to force eventually the Democratic Party to do what had to be done, which turned out to be under LBJ rather than JFK. It would be much easier to discuss all the topics introduced here in the Discussion Forum, where each topic introduced gets its own continuous thread.

@ De Mush Doctor: I could not agree with more the late writer, William R. Jones, wrote a book titled is "God a White Racist?" In it he took the black clergy to task including so-called black liberation theology for promoting the concept of divine suffering as a way to redemption and freedom, a totally repellent doctrine  that must be rejected if we are to free our minds.

Yes, these black negro preacher hustlers are so much responsible for the continuous brainwashing of the black youth of the day, by forcing them down to their knees to worship, glorify, exalt and give praises to their white slave master jesus christ.

Reason why black people can't move froward and progress into the twenty first century. We need to shed the psychological chains that still hold us captive in our minds.Emancipate ourselves from the stranglehold of white supremacy.

We still continue giving credence to the false notion that we are inferior to our white counter paths, because we black people are of the devil's spawn and white people are the chosen children of God.

Such ignorant goat herder's doctrines need to be eradicated from our children's minds before we are able to go forward in any capacity as black people..It's a horrible way to raise your children.

The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington seemed to me largely a quasi-religious revival taken over by black clerics who ignored the secular beginnings of the protest created by A. Phillip Randolph and Bayard Rustin. Did any one else sense that? That movement was driven by nonreligious activist, students, communist, socialist and progressive trade unionist and liberal adherents in the God/Jesus cult.. The black church is for the most part culturally conservative and slow to embrace change i.e., evolution, science, and gender and same-sex equality.

Human Rights Activists Defends "Witchcraft" Children: Speaks - July 15th

After almost 4 years of trying, we finally get the chance to host the heroic human rights and child advocate Leo Igwe. Leo will be speaking on July 15th. The program will offer us the chance to hear harrowing challenges and on-going success stories. We'll also have the opportunity to understand our own part in "what's next?".

Who:

Leo Igwe's work covers key areas of interest to us all. He's been doing social justice work for almost 15 years. He'll speak on the link between human rights, civil liberties, health, education and development. The link between skeptical reason, practical activism and social justice is an ongoing project you’re invited to join in. He's in NYC for only one day. Let's turn out to welcome him.

What:

The problems of child abuse, neglect, trafficking and suffering are well known. What is less well known is one of the causes is superstition, irrational tradition and a lack of science-based health care and education. This cripples communities and costs lives.

Now there is action that changes lives; rescuing these children from abandonment, stigmatization, mind-numbing abuse, and even murder. They are children (and adults, mostly women, often widows) who’ve been accused of witchcraft and demon possession. They suffer a loss of human rights, human dignity and hope.

Secular Humanist, skeptic and child advocate Leo Igwe is changing things. He has survived slander, harassment by politicians and police, multiple assaults, imprisonment, home invasions and hospitalizing attacks on his family members. His property has been stolen. His father was blinded, losing an eye. He lives under ongoing threats. Yet he continues to risk all and tell the truth for those who's stories would otherwise have no rational witness.
