Welcome

The photo displayed is of Harlem soapbox orator, agitator, popular educator, & atheist Hubert Henry Harrison.

Documentation of black atheism, freethought, & humanism on the web can be found in my atheist web guide.

See also my working bibliography.

I also have a general interest blog, Reason & Society.

Some of you may also be interested in some of my other projects, e.g. The Autodidact Project, my Studies in a Dying Culture (blog), and my Emergence blog. You can also listen to my podcasts: my Internet radio show is called "Studies in a Dying Culture," hosted by Think Twice Radio.

If one wishes to extend discussion of the topics below, it would be best to start a discussion thread. All I will say now, is that jazz is nothing like boxing. If jazz were about violence, I would have nothing to do with it; jazz incites the very opposite of a violent orientation. And no, I am not inspired beyond words.

If you've not done so, WATCH "When We Were Kings," the best documentary on my favorite person on earth, Mr. Muhammad Ali...you'll learn A LOT and you'll be INSPIRED BEYOND WORDS.

George Foreman: “Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it.”

“I hit Ali with everything and he said ‘is that all you got’ and I said ‘yeah, that’s pretty much it.’”

Africa: Birthplace of Communism?

The famous African proverb stating that "It takes a village to raise a child" has begun to resonate among my growing Socialist values. This sentiment evokes a fundamental theme of maintaining strength and stability within a community.

I don't remember writing this. Oh I didn't it was Gean but it could of been me. I thought I was the only one. Riding is my passion. I have been riding since 1986 and have always owned a bike since then. There is nothing I enjoy more. I always wondered if there were any other Black Atheist Bikers. As far as I know all of the brothers I ride with are theist. Some very much so. They go as far as having blessing of the bikes ceremonies. There's almost always prayer before and sometimes also even after a ride. I'm retired so I have plenty of time to ride. I ride more than I drive my pickup which is over three years old and has just over 20K miles. Do you go to the Biker's Roundup? I go most years. I'll miss this year's Roundup in Vegas. As far as a blog or network I don't know of any. Maybe we can get something started.

Black Atheist Motorcyclists.  Is anybody aware of a blog or network where Black Atheists can fellowship, excuse the pun, and stay in touch on the subject of motorcycles, motorcycle travel and such?  I've been riding for over 30 years and do a long distance trip every year.  I'm retired military and have never had a religious preference and would love to correspond with like-minded bikers who are freethinkers as well.
