I remember conversing with my family and friends some time ago about my atheistic bent. Of course, I had to hear an ear full of of theological folly, but common sense and intellect quieted the moment. However, in the same breath, I heard high adoration for the writings of W.E.B Du Bois and how African American men should model their motivation and intellectual acumen after Du Bois.
Immediately after I stated...but W.E.B Du Bois was an atheist! So it is acceptable for black men to be like him; however, don't think like him. Hypocrisy has no limits!
