Comment by Dominic Florio on March 18, 2013 at 10:16am I'm a huge poultry lover and half of mine are rescues. I thought that they were treated as a nuisance and that chicken catchers were sent out to catch them on a regular basis. I read that many would be tame, walk around people, accept food, but would take off when they saw the chicken catcher. I met an artist from the Keys who volunteered time in the Chicken Store (which no longer exists) which sold items to help the poultry. If they are now protected by law, I'm happy to hear it.
Comment by booklover on March 18, 2013 at 8:07am Yep! The roosters just strut all over town. We had to stop our car in the middle of the road while a chicken and her chicks crossed! SO CUTE! The roosters are protected by law, and their colors are gorgeous! You can hear them crowing all over!
Also, pigeons just swoop into the outdoor, and semi-outdoor restaurants! They just walk around eating what people drop. A seagull swooped down and stole a french-fry from my niece as she sat on a lounge-chair by the pool, lol.
Ruth, Tony and Booklover - those are wonderful pictures. They stopped the motion. Very nice.
So the Roosters just walk around town?
