Sorry got behind here. I will see if I can identify the bird using my field guide Sentient. Beautiful bird pictures Tony and Sentient. Thanks so much for the video Ruth.

Sentient Biped, your bird feeder pics remind me of my favorite short video, Birdbeat. I can watch it over and over.

Could that larger bird be a Northern Flicker?

Comment by Sentient Biped on January 20, 2013 at 10:45pm

Joan, you are right!  It's a male downy woodpecker!  Between you and google, I can figure it out.  The link even says they hang out with chicadees, which they were doing at my feeder.  And lots of finches.

Now the other one...  I have no idea!

Great photos Sentient, and nice to see your birds. Isn't that one with a red spot a woodpecker? At first I thought his bill was not right, but I think it is that lovely bird that drills into my head when he is on my pole.

Nothing like the quality of the posted pics.  This is through my window using a cheap point and shoot camera.  I can only ID one as chickadee.  The suet/seed cake us store bought general purpose.

Tony, this is an incredible photo of a kingfisher, I think, and its fishing techniques.

I should have written owl, not oil.

The cat & owls pix is funny Patricia.  Reminds me of a "which one of these is different?" questions.
