Another High Court Challenge Against the National School Chaplaincy Program

Website: http://www.highcourtchallenge.com

Breaking News! After successfully challenging the Commonwealth government in the High Court of Australia over funding for the National School Chaplaincy Scheme, Ron Williams is to take them on again.  In an attempt to circumvent the High Court ruling, the government has passed some extremely questionable legislation which tears at the heart of parliamentary democracy and public accountability.  Williams has consulted with his crack legal team and the decision has been made today (Saturday, 7 July) to mount another challenge.

For more information see here:

http://thatsmyphilosophy.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/its-on-williams-to-return-to-the-high-court-on-chaplaincy-issue/

Mounting a High Court challenge is extremely expensive and Ron Williams is just an average, suburban Dad.  If all of us who care about a secular, democratic Australia can chip in as much as we can, it will help enormously.  Please consider donating at:

This is your chance to be a part of making Australian Constitutional history!

Australian Atheist Issues

For new members, if you want to get a grasp of some of the issues effecting atheists in Australia, you might like to take a look at the Atheist Nexus (Australia) submission on "Freedom of Religion and Belief in the 21st Century" made to the Australian Human Rights Commission early last year. It's long, but easy reading, and worth spending some time on. A report, using information compiled from submissions, should be released later this year.

Give me your order Felch and I'll stand in line for you.

Felch, unfortunately not as on registration you enter, thus we are also restricted a lot to formats of the MCEC that do this stuff all the time.
18 lines and the fact that many tables are booked together will not take long at all.

Richard J: There is a film crew at the convention events and a DVD will be produced along with footage posted online.

Davo - but is there an earlier way to register ? I loathe lines, means a high probability of being trapped next to gibberish with no escape.

Felch, It's not 2500 it's 1500 (excludes sunday only tickets) and it's only about 1200 orders. We have 18 registration lines organised plus an enquiries desk.
Hope that helps.

Ta Davo. But... (there's always a whiner). People raised their concerns over the small time window between final session and dinner Saturday. I raise another one -

6.00pm Commencement of registration

6.15pm Commence drinks & canapes

7.30pm Opening of 2010 Global Atheist Convention – David Nicholls, Stuart Bechman & Kylie Sturgess

Seriously, you expect to register 2,500 people in that time ? Is there earlier registration during the day for those that arrive early ?

Dear fellow miscreants and heathens,

I'm travelling with my wife from sunny Qld to mopey Melbourne for the Atheist con next week, anyone know the names of any plush (cheap) hotels or respectable (not flea ridden) hostels near the convention centre?

Post here or gmail me jakefw@gmail.com.

Peace to all,
