Hi Sue B.

Welcome to the list.

It sounds like your grandchild is well endowed with friendly relatives. That is the most important thing.
If you want to help I suggest you aks the parents what kind of help they would most appreciate. Begin by asking them what they find are the biggest problems.

I suspect the help which will be most appreciated will be very practical things, like looking after the child, and/or their other children so that they can take a break or get some much needed sleep. Or providing ready cooked meals every now and again.

If the couple have other children do things with and for them. Sadly, neuro-typical children in families of this kind are all too often neglected or made to feel less "special" and important. This has life-long repercussions which teachers and mental health professionals (like me) have to address. This is one of the hidden tragedies which is frequently ignored by those who work with Downs children and their parents.

Hey all,
I'm a new Grandma as of Aug 2nd and my beautiful little granddaughter was born with downs, but I truly believe she's as fine as they get and will be a joy to our family. (fortunately very healthy with only a couple markers and an excellent heart)

Any advice out there about how I can help out? I don't want to be pushy and this baby has 4 grandmas (plus numerous Aunts, great Aunts and cousins) Help from anyone who has had to deal with this would be great, Thanks.

I regret that I am unable to supply any competition in regards to corsets these days. Lucky Angie!

Did the ABA session at least seem good on your first visit?

And I'll second the compliment on Angie's corset and add, "Whoa! Hummina!"

Good Luck! ABA is tough, but it is well worth it in the long run.
