Whether you're a professional, a student, an amateur, an enthusiast, whatever! Lots of atheists love science. Might as well have a group for it!

Feel free to nerd out, link articles, talk about your favorite field of research, whatever!

I've been super busy with school this semester -- no time for Atheist Nexus, sadly!!
If anyone who's around here a lot wants me to toss them moderation privileges to run this group or anything, just send me (Sara) a message! Thanks!

Removed ability to send mass messages to everyone in the group. At 1000+ members, that seems like asking for spam.

Offer still open if anyone active in the group wants moderation privileges, but it appears everything has been going smoothly with all kinds of great discussions without moderation. Fantastic! :)

Hey, science heads! Posted a link to a story about earlier animal emergence than previously known. It's over in the Origins group.

Hello, I am new as well.

I am by trade an engineer, and I love all science with a passion.

I'm a retired high school science teacher (primarily biology) I have a strong interest in evolutionary biology, biodiversity and sociobiology.
I had to deal with the biblical literalist almost every year of my career; after about 20 years of being nice to the nuts, I found that sarcastic and rude worked better. That mind set will never accept reality so I found it useless to expend any time pursuing rational conversation with them.

Hey all, I'm new. I love science, but I excel in physics and chemistry.
I'm a huge fan of of Darwin and Nietzsche.

Sorry about the off-topic-ness of this post. This is a response to Sara's posit of creating a group on Paleontology.

Paleontology is a broad spectrum subject that draws a lot of debate and insight. What I like about it is it brings in so many other branches of science. Whether it's from the Precambrian period or all the way to the present, other fields are needed to see what made things tick from what evidence is garnered. I'm particularly interested (from an armchair perspective at my age) in proto hominids. I was very aware of what the IHO had discovered. It's too bad there was a falling out with others at Cal that caused Dr. Johanson to move the project to Arizona. My father (also an educator) was involved with raising funds for their projects. That was perhaps one of the more enlightened times in my life when I felt connected to something important.

Please have at it! Create another group! I might be further compelled to research and contribute.

Hey all, I do love science especially physics and chemistry and I like reading Richard Dawkins boos very interesting. Im currently studying a BSc in Graphics which doesn't sound "sciency" but it is sort of computer science with hexidecimals and such. I do however hate how scientists test on animals its not right...couldn't we test on Christians (joking)
