Woah no way!!! That is so cool!! I am going to show this to my mentor, he'll love it! Thanks again!! It begs the questions: what about in Europa's subsurface ocean? What about Enceladus' geysers? However the food source for these shrimp is a mystery- I can't imagine why they didn't sample the water and check for zooplankton? Or perhaps the shrimp somehow live off detritus, otherwise it's not impossible that there is some deep inlet from the Ocean- 12 miles isn't a lot and they only sampled a tiny hole. They can't completely rule out the possibility of there being no link to open water, as cool as it would be for these guys to be living independently of a marine source. Sorry to rant, that's brilliant though.

I agree. I imagine that there is some kind of circulation going on. And obviously, they are feeding on something. There's probably much more down there.

Isn't Lake Vostok just microorganisms though? I expect those everywhere, hehe. 3-inch shrimp is a different matter if the life is truly independent of a marine source.

The problem with string theory, is the same with Multiple Universes,
there is no way to test the theory false. The same is said for the God concept. Maybe God is sleeping and created the human comedy for his wife's amusement?

Yes, for the theoretical physicist String has color and imagination.
It also has more solutions to its equations than cat has hair strains.
So it is not science and more metaphysics.
