Whether you're a professional, a student, an amateur, an enthusiast, whatever! Lots of atheists love science. Might as well have a group for it!

Feel free to nerd out, link articles, talk about your favorite field of research, whatever!

I've been super busy with school this semester -- no time for Atheist Nexus, sadly!!
If anyone who's around here a lot wants me to toss them moderation privileges to run this group or anything, just send me (Sara) a message! Thanks!

Removed ability to send mass messages to everyone in the group. At 1000+ members, that seems like asking for spam.

Offer still open if anyone active in the group wants moderation privileges, but it appears everything has been going smoothly with all kinds of great discussions without moderation. Fantastic! :)

Speaking of science and secular content - we need science links: we have created an easy as heck to navigate website with all the content on one page. It consists of FREE films, books, videos, links, etc. for those who need a good dose of science, logic and reality. Go to http://www.charliescrusade.org. please help.  Thanks.

Sara- Hello - Just happy to have found your site. I am very busy with work and my business, but science always keeps me interested.

Wind Map

...visualization designers Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg have crafted something truly awe-inspiring from it. Wind Map pulls in hourly data from the National Digital Forecast Database, tracing wind speed and direction in near real-time while providing nationwide maximum and average figures. The result is something remarkably similar to NASA's Perpetual Ocean video, only Wind Map is an interactive, zoomable, and constantly changing project.

It does sound like good news, Ann with an e.

As someone with the BRCA1 mutation I applaud this decision. Myriad's patent prevents others from researching this gene, and keeps out other tests available outside the US. It's my gene and my mutation, they can't own it. (unless they pay us a licensing fee :-) )

Yeah, they can still use the isolated genes, but I think they made the right decision regarding the patents. You could really limit availability for medical treatment and research if they were patented.
