Comment by Sarah Walton on March 11, 2012 at 2:30am Thanks TNT666! I shared that widely.
Comment by TNT666 on March 10, 2012 at 10:49pm Something any non science trained atheist needs to understand: Science is not immune from corruption and political manipulation. Without scientific training or scientific research skills, it can be quite difficult to know the difference between truthful and science and lying science. This table might help a bit:

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on February 23, 2012 at 6:46pm Dear Rational Robot. Your link would have been better posted as a discussion than a comment, because my reply is now disconnected from it. I don't buy France-Presse's argument that "history shows that science can thrive alongside religion" when the only evidence given is
"By their senior year, 79 percent said they don't see a conflict, but a collaboration model instead."
presumably based on a survey at one or a few schools.
Also his claim that "A perceived conflict between science and religion has led Americans to rank nearly last among industrialized countries in understanding evolution." had no evidence at all. Religious opposition to science, including evolution, doesn't get off the hook for terrible US science eduction by suggesting that if we only collaborated with religions our science education would advance light years. This makes no sense to me at all. Just because 79% of seniors at some school imagine that science and religion can peacefully coexist, doesn't make it so on the broader stage.

Comment by Secular Forces 2013 on February 21, 2012 at 12:39pm The body is the shape of a Soviet F1 Hand Grenade, made out of the sturdy Tusk2700T resin. The metal parts are created from silver, complete with an operational trigger mechanism that begins the recording process. “I wanted it to look elegant, a bottle of high-class perfume, as much as a weapon,” said Oliver in an interview with We Make Money, Not Art.
includes a computer with a microphone and powerful wireless antenna that captures network traffic and audio in a location and anonymously streams it to an external server that mines it for information — including e-mail excerpts, web pages, images and voice. The server then uploads that data to a public website and positions it on a map.

Comment by Secular Forces 2013 on February 20, 2012 at 10:10pm "Widespread rejection in America of climate science, and denial of climate change is linked with the "street fight" over evolution, speakers told an audience of mostly American scientists and educators.
But Miller said the stereotype that "rational science is at war with irrational faith" is wrong.
He said popular American culture and religious speakers promote a literal interpretation of the Bible, as well as the idea that morality would not exist without religion."
ha! okay...

United States placed second to last — just before Turkey — in a recent survey in 33 countries of how well people understood evolution.
