Hi All. Just found this site. Any meetings or get-togethers in the area?

Thank you for those that have welcomed me. It's good to know that there are people out there that have views similar to mine. It's been a while since I've declared myself an atheist, but it was only just today that I've made it public. I made it official by saying I was an atheist on my facebook profile info. Unfortunately not long after, my girlfriend who is Catholic saw it first. It's not going too well.

I recently found this site while browsing through the groups. I live in the hilltown of Chester in the foothills of the Berkshires. I would like to attend solstice picnics or Atheist meetings in W. Mass. I'm also interested in correspondence with fellow atheists and freethinkers.

Hello everyone! So glad to have found this site. I've lived in NoHo for a little over 2 years and love it. I look forward to meeting others for lively chats and perhaps coffee.

Diana and B-Girl, thanks! I know the area by reputation. I grew up in NH and both my husband and I lived in Boston and surrounds for years. We've never actually been there. We are happy because we do think it will be a great fit for us. I love all the colleges in the area. Even though it's still a long drive I'm psyched to be close to Tanglewood.

We're driving there later this week to check it out.

Dawn & B-Girl:

I agree! Out of so many places in this area, you've been very lucky to move to (that is if you do) a town like Northampton. We visit it frequently. You'll quickly realize once there that NoHo is very a very open-minded, diverse community that embraces different opinions, characters and world views. I'd even go as far as to say that NoHo is way too 'alternative' for many folks that love the old-fashioned straight line. :o)

I think you will enjoy living in Western Mass, Dawn. Northampton (often referred to as NoHo or Hoho) is a great place, lots of great restaurants for such a small city/town, very artsy and a safe place to be open as an atheist. Really the whole area is pretty safe for those who do not participate in religion or participate in religions other than the big 3.

Small group!

I'm currently in Buffalo NY but my husband recently accepted a job in Northampton. It won't start until July or Aug (2010). We really don't know anyone in the area (one or two really).
