That's a point, yeah.  I learned that one more than a decade ago.  Never badmouth the ex.  Your potential date feels more kinship with her than with you.  If anything, you'll score more points by badmouthing yourself and describing what you did wrong ... and what you learned from the experience, which you will apply to future relationships.

If your ex truly was a complete psycho who was on drugs and tried to kill you, you're better off just not mentioning her.  At the most, explain what the two of you did together that was wrong, which screwed up the relationship.  At the very least, minimize the pejoratives.

A couple recommendations:

Don't use the word female.

Don't call your ex a whore on a discussion board where you're trying to meet women. It's a huge turn off.

The last two lutheran girls I dated, the latter brought WAY too much baggage and the former was a psychotic whore who, I later found out, has never been in a relationship where she hasn't cheated, Terry.  I know you're trying to help but I'm not really good at deconverting other people.

Why is it so hard to find a nice atheist girl between the ages of 20-30 here in Minnesota?  An no, I'm not using an atheist dating site, whenever I use those sites the only atheist women in Minnesot I can find are in their 40s or 50s.  I don't want to date women in their 40s or 50s until I'M in my 40s or 50s

Tonya, a Party's a good idea, if there were one in Vancouver I might well attend! As for the other bit, technology has afforded us split personalities, we show our intellects online to strangers, but only the people in our real life get to know our heart... for the value of who we are as people is in our actions not our words.

More of you would be in relationships now if you had great headhots/photos AND had properly filled out your 'page'.  How can I know who you really are if I can't read it on your page.  I wanna know if you like animals, what you like to read or which movies you like, what your politics are, ect.   Don't complain about being single if you put no danged effort into advertising yourself properly. Winers!!!

Perhaps ONCE a YEAR, we atheists should have a major singles party in a major city.  Many of us would be willing to travel to a major city once a year to find a great mate.  In the south ATLANT; in the north, the Reason Rally in D.C., but at a certain restaurant we'd meet... or in NYC, Detroit, L.A., Chicago... maybe we could choose the gays' coming out day.  So we'd all be coming out at the same time, it would be less scary.
