That is the answer I was looking for!!!

I didn't want to feed you any suggestions, I really wanted to know what you thought w/o any further thought.

That's why I was a little cagey.

It is amazing you think that libertarians are not for gay rights; this is part of my study.

Where did you get the idea that libertarians were in any way against gay rights?? OMG (using god as a metaphor of course ;-) It is actually one of the distinguishing hallmark characteristics of conservative republicans vs libertarians.

I myself have written articles in libertarian publications touting the absolute right of gay people having the same presumptive rights as heteros. Jeesh.

My current best friend is gay. Jeesh again!!

On that YOU need to educate yourself.

On the other things of which I am not an expert, I will educate myself, as per your suggestions and other here.

Again, I am never too proud to learn things I just don't know.

Also, libertarians are generally not *for* gay rights. For obvious reasons, I have big problems with that. That is just the tip of the iceberg of the problems I have with libertarianism, but that's neither here nor there. You don't seem to have changed your opinion of there being anything wrong with your little ad downthread, despite what folks here have said. Listen or don't listen, I don't care. It's your loss, not mine.

No, no, no, Gary. I was not saying that libertarians don't care what gay people think. I was talking about my being a gay woman and your being a straight man, you probably, in the realm of dating, don't give a damn what I have to say. I did answer on point, and I think you are looking for an argument. Not biting your bait, though. Do what you will with what I said. you come off shallow, arrogant, and in search of something unrealistic.

Heh, I think it was just that as a lesbian, her opinion wasn't as important, in general, since she's not a dating prospect.
Comment by Gary Trieste on June 14, 2012 at 3:31pm

My curiousity is peaked again on this libertarian thing.

Earlier you said something that implied that because I was a libertarian that I wouldn't care about what a gay person opined.

I asked you, and you said it wasn't so much libertarian as much as it was a gay thing that I wouldn't respect. But I still see an undercurrent here.

So I ask you again, why would you think that I don't respect the opinion of a gay woman because of my libertarianism??

Please answer on point, not looking for an argument, again just trying to understand.

Thanks, Brian. I can't speak for anyone else, but if I posted something here and there were a bunch of negatives, particularly from people for the segment of the population I am looking for dates with, it would make me re evaluate my approach, and perhaps even some of the things I value. I hope we helped Gary in some way.

Joseph, can't speak to that, but I can say this: women DO look for reasons to write someone off. Take me for instance: if she is a theist, has kids, is a closet case, or is a right winger or libertarian, no deal. Off the bat. Then again, I'd rather be single than be with someone with any of those characteristics, though.

Brian, negative isn't necessarily unconstructive.
Comment by Joseph P on June 14, 2012 at 3:18pm
All of this sort of factors into the reality of looking for dates online, for guys. We outnumber women by a large margin, on dating sites. They look for things to slim down the number of potentials a bit.
Comment by brian on June 14, 2012 at 3:08pm

The Reason I said something about beating the guy up was that the comments were all negative. there we no constructive comments. that is why I said what I said.

Kudos to shannon and and anyone else that may have given some constructive critism.

In short, nobody wants to get old and lose our looks. However, it happens. Furthermore, this society holds women to an almost impossible standard with regards to youth and beauty. It is a huge red flag when someone lists that in initial preferences. I do hope you find what you are looking for, but I really think that perhaps the other things need to come before age and looks. Otherwise, the only women who will even consider dating you are shallow bimbos who are after your money and couldn't give two shits about your child.
