No prob, Rudy!

I have one suggestion, though... I'm not much of a partier, or pub-goer, but there's a movie coming up that might interest some of you.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/CREATION-The-Movie/39212784860?v=wall...

The movie "Creation" is airing in Red Deer on February 8th, according to one poster in a very un-noticeable location at the Galaxy movie theatre. My husband and I are lucky we went to Sherlocke today and he spotted it hiding by the candy machines... Too bad they couldn't have put it in a more noticable location considering it's airing in a week. And I suspect it's only airing for the one day. I'm also not sure of the time(s) yet...

But my hubby, Rick, and I will definately be going... Maybe we'll see some of you there?...

Those of you not from Red Deer, you'll have to look into when it's airing in your neck of the woods. It's a good thing we're in Canada. It's going to be a very limited release, unfortunately, but at least most cities will get it at some point. It' sounds like only a couple of the major cities in the states are even considering airing it. One guy on the Creation facebook page said that he's in New York and he's going to have to go to Ontario to see it...

Crazy! It's a true story, pulled directly from the family's letters and diaries, about Charles Darwin's life and how he came to realize how evolution works and the struggles he had with giving up religion...

OMG!!! They can air Passion of the Christ nation-wide, but it's a struggle to get this movie to be aired anywhere...!? Blows my mind. :(

Also I think there's 2 other problems...being that Atheism is not (despite what many theists say) a religion, many may not feel the "need" to get together. And as far as finding people, I don't think this site is that well known...yet. Alberta Atheists on Facebook has 31 members (I think) and remember on that site all your friends can see the groups you belong to so that would just be "outed" Atheists mostly.

Although this wouldn't help you Glen, I have noticed most of the people here are either from Calgary or Edmonton, so maybe we should have a party at Lori's place in Red Deer....sorry, just teasing you Lori (^_-)

That's part of why I'm so eager to set up an atheist pub night. We could all use a little support

I think there's more of us out there than we know, Glen. The problem is, here in religious rich Alberta, many have trouble "coming out" so to speak. I can't help but notice that many members on Atheist Nexus don't give their real name. I realize some have other reasons, but I can't help but wonder if they aren't ready to go public even on this site? Be an interesting topic for discussion, but I'm not sure which group one would put it on...

I'd love to meet up Carisa, but Calgary's a bit of a drive for me (I'm in Red Deer). Looks like there are a few people here from Calgary though... :)

Hey Carisa, I might slip down occasionally, but being 1 1/2 - 2 hours away probably not bi-weekly...Red Deer, yes and if anyone starts something in Edmonton, I could make it more often.

Maybe a once or twice yearly party for the province??

Hooray!!I just joined a few days ago!
I was hoping there was a group for Albertans!
I grew up in Calgary and now live in Edmonton.
So happy to find this group!
