Simon -- Like Steve, you continue to use the language of the Islamists and the anti-Semites. The only reason that Israel keeps expanding is because radicals such as you let them do it by offering extremism as a defense and thinking that it will work. It hasn't and it won't.

Palestinian loss of land since 1946 to 2000. & since Gaza is effectively an open air prision and still under occupation, you shouldn't even include that.

They may have physically left Gaza but they are still by international law an occupying power as they have effective control of the borders. Throw in the military and settler roads in the West Bank not to mention the illegal ‘security’ wall and thats not a basis for a state but a open air gaol.

Al-KADIM -- Wise words. Yes indeed anger exists on both sides, and it is time to move on. Those who are unable to move on (whether it is Palestinian extremists, Jewish extremists, or their "friends" elsewhere) are part of the problem.

Well, to be clear, I oppose the occupation and the settlement policies, however, Israel has removed settlements in both Gaza and the West Bank (Sa-Nur, Ganim, Homesh, and Kadim, all in the northern West Bank, as well as various outposts throughout the territories). Many of the settlements were built on government land, and in some other instances, the land was purchased. Considering the bulldozing, the fact is that Israel has bulldozed more Israeli homes than Palestinian homes, on a purely numeric basis. And governments from Barak to Sharon to Rabin to Peres have all expressed a willingness to remove even more settlements.

I would also challenge what you mean by "enforcing" International Law. Are you calling for an invasion of Israel? An embargo? Or is it just rhetorical? What kind of Palestinian government would you like to set up? You know, I am sure about the civil war in Gaza and the way secularists were treated. Many fled to the West Bank, where they are making real progress (I was actually involved in a small way with the opening of the first movie theater in Jenin last month). But what they are doing would never happen in Gaza.

There is also quite a bit of collaboration and cooperation between the West Bank government and the Israelis, only this doesn't make the news. It's unfortunate. Even in Gaza, however, there is some cooperation, despite the closure (which I believe is criminal and am glad to see being lifted).

The thing is this. Israelis and Palestinians are both there to stay. The question is not what happened in the past, but how they can move forward into a better future, instead of building walls of separation and distrust. It was achieved in South Africa. It is being achieved in Rwanda. We have no choice but to achieve it here as well. As for anger management, it goes both ways. How do you tell and Israeli mother who lost a child in a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv to just move on. Anger exists on both sides.

Quinn -- I am not sure what you mean by "your bias is showing". Let's be clear:
- I do not support the settlements in the West Bank, just as I did not support the settlements in Gaza, which Israel has now removed as Al-Kadim pointed out (although the actions of Hamas have prevented the Palestinians from taking advantage of that withdrawal).
- I do not support violence from either side. I oppose terrorism by Hamas and the like, and I oppose IDF attacks on Palestinian areas except in limited and directed cases of self-defense.
- I support the right of the Palestinians to a state, autonomous, strong, and at peace.
- I support the same for Israel, no more and no less.

Those who repeat the Hamas and Al Qaeda line that Israel should not exist are the ones "showing their true colours": the colours of intolerance, hate, and never-ending terrorism and war. They are the mirror image of those who deny Palestinians the right to a state.
