Hello.
I hope I am welcome here I am sort on nervous to explain myself.
I been in wicca about 5 or more years but I have always had a problem.
The gods, goddesses, mythology, fairiers etc. I could really do without.
I don't believe in god I think if any god exists it's more of a thing we make up maybe an energy form or something.
I heard once magic is done with energy it's not a god it has no emotion or anything.
Kind of like if I use a hammer to build a birdhouse it don't care about me or what I do it don't even have thoughts.
I like meditation, crystal magic, working on phychic abilitys and celebrating the seasons.
Isn't it possible to do this without believing some god is watching you? I think so I think we all have inner power with no god involved.
If i'm way off on what you all think please let me stay anyway I would like to learn more about Atheist Pagans.

Thanks for that Jo, we don't seem to have the same negativity towards atheists and pagans here in Australia, but then again, our country wasn't founded by paranoid people escaping religious persecution. No trick or treaters came around my place Saturday night :-)
Steve, Bonfire night used to be a huge thing back when I was a child in the 70's but then local government councils banned bonfires due to pollution concerns and it faded away. I remember gathering at my primary school for a huge bonfire complete with burning the Guy Fawkes effigy and cooking baked potatoes in aluminium foil in the ashes. I understand Nov 5th celebrations were a mix of ancient Beltaine Belfire rituals and Guy Fawkes trying to blow up the English Parliament? I think it was also big in my neighbourhood because it was mostly English migrants who settled in the 1960's.

Jo, you mention "occasional act of outright violence and vandalism towards Pagans/Atheists around this time of year". I wasn't aware of that so perhaps it was a subconscious action that told me taken my concealed carry pistol with me last night (we drove across town to a party)
Talking about parties, I had too much last night and even now, almost 24 hours later, I still don't feel very good.
BTW, my apparent limited info about America and the American way of life is because I've only been here for 12 years (ex-Brit) and I was made a citizen on November 5th which means another party (oh no!)
Do you guys in Oz recongize bonfire night on Nov 5th, Robyn?

Yeah, here in the good old USA Halloween is quite a popular holiday, and also a popular one for the Fundies to slam. Few decades ago, it was the urban legend that devil worshipers were poisoning trick-or-treat candy and razor blades in apples.

Then they tried creating their own competing "Hell Houses." A Christian version of a Haunted House, only instead it was displays of scary secular things and why you should stay on the righteous path. "Here's pictures of dead fetuses ... Here's a Harry Potter display all about how it teaches witchcraft ..."

Then of course there's the occasional act of outright violence and vandalism towards Pagans/Atheists around this time of year.

Jo and Steve, when you talk about fundamentalist christian craziness, what country are you referring to?
Downunder in Aus, Halloween isn't a big thing, though it is getting bigger every year with the costumes available in the cheap stores.
I am guessing you are referring to American as they seem to have the largest Halloween trick-or-treat culture??
What is the usual craziness Jo?

Talking about Halloween, can anyone tell me if the religious nuts were creating as much fuss over Halloween last year as they are this year? I don't recall hearing anything about evil witchery and casting spells over sweeties.
