Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

My son has watched nearly every episode - has been watching the weekly show, but has also gone through the archives.  I try to watch the clips on YouTube to save time.  My son told me not to bother watching anything prior to episode 545 or so.  I find some of them the most entertaining  lol

Cool.  There are random videos of some of the material, here and there, but the videos he makes are separate from his books.  He did a series for the BBC, a few years ago.

They go back to 2004.  If you want more nonsensical Christians calling and making asses of themselves, you want the older episodes.  You get the occasional apologist with half a brain, but most theists are ... a little inane.

Cool, I took a short trip through Paganism, myself.  I never believed in anything, including the Paganism, but it was a last look around the theological landscape for anything with any vague potential for truth, before calling bullshit on the whole concept.

Also, among ex-Christian groupings, the female/male ratio is much better amongst Pagans/Wiccans.  :-D

Cool deal, learning about Evolution.  Fortunately, I was buried in science and took well to it, while I was young.  Have you read 'The Greatest Show on Earth'?  It's a good primer, and then Dawkins's earlier books address the nuts and bolts more.  There are plenty of other good books on the subject, but Dawkins has such a beautiful writing voice.

Working your way through the Atheist Experience archive is also a good way to see debate with theists, outside of the formal debate structure.

Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 6:25pm

Oh yeah, theists are a non-stop riot.  The mockery never gets old, because the theists keep doing insane shit.

How long ago did you break free?

Comment by Pat Burke on April 26, 2011 at 6:06pm

Perhaps they just thought the (heathen) Mayans were getting a little too much airtime and concocted this pre-emptive strike.

As for excuses, they need only spin the wheel of historical rapture misfortune. History is replete with excuses.

Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 5:41pm
Either way, though, I'm sure the tail end of your comment will turn out to be accurate, in some respect.  We're going to get a lot more silliness like this, throughout 2012.
Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 5:37pm
Surely they can get a spin-doctor on loan from the Republican Party?
Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 5:17pm
It can't be something that simple.  They've got to have something planned to make the failure of the Rapture work to their benefit.  Even if Harold Camping isn't a cynical old basterd who's manipulating people for their money, he's got to have a few realists on his staff who are planning a few moves ahead.
Comment by Susan Stanko on April 26, 2011 at 5:12pm
That they miscalculated of course.
Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 5:09pm
I'm still looking forward to hearing what the hell the idiots are going to say on May 22nd.  They've GOT to have the spin prepared.  I just can't see what it could possibly be.
