Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

I 2nd. what Stephan Goodwin said. I know things have been tough for you guys but you'd think at least ONE of you could have put out out an episode by now. I mean it's May, your last podcast was in March.

Give me an episode damnit!

Comment by Joseph P on May 4, 2011 at 10:45am
I'd like to think it will happen before that, if the change of the past decade is any indicator.  The liberal, quasi-believing Christians in this country are beginning to see the harm that religion causes, and ... well, honestly, I think the media has had a lot to do with it.  Shows like House and Family Guy ... outspoken media personalities like Bill Maher (even if he is a shitty skeptic) ... they're all helping shift the public perception of atheism.

Good-bye, Sites.

Most likely, yeah.  The two shows are a bit incestuous.  The fact that Matt is regularly on both of them adds to the fact that they're both done by the same group, in the first place.  The Atheist Experience is public outreach, and Non Prophets Radio is aimed at atheists.
Comment by Paula T. on April 26, 2011 at 8:38pm
Thanks, Joseph, I will check out Non Prophets Radio....I still have a lot to learn about atheism.  I credit my sons with guiding me to rational thinking and if I'm not mistaken, NPR is a podcast my older son listens to, as well.
Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 8:12pm

Yeah, there's certainly some repetition with the callers, over time.  I can understand how if you're short on time, it can be a bit of an issue.  The topics that they cover aren't repeated as much, though.  In many episodes, half of the show is taken up by the topic.  That doesn't happen as much, anymore, now that they're cut down to an hour-long show.

If you have much driving time, you might want to look into Non Prophets Radio, too.  Of course there's no shortage of atheist podcasts.  NPR was just one of the first.  And of course the POINT of The Atheist Experience is the interaction with the callers.

Much of it IS repeated....not if :P
Comment by Paula T. on April 26, 2011 at 7:56pm
My son only suggested that because of the somewhat poor video quality and said that so much if repeated - can't get away from that - so he suggested what he thought I would enjoy with limited time to view the episodes. After watching clips from older episodes, I can see they are worth watching. I'm enjoying myself!
Comment by Joseph P on April 26, 2011 at 7:43pm
Huh?  Why wouldn't you watch anything before that?  They got a much higher percentage of fundies calling in, back then.  Hell, you'd miss a lot of good material, such as Tracie's presentation of the pantheon from which the Christian god evolved, in episodes #464, #466, and #483.  I'd definitely ignore your son's advice.
