Atheist News Podcast ProjectHey guys. I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore. Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I. Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long. I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted. Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING. Love, --Joe Questions, comments?

Comment by Joan Denoo on February 4, 2012 at 4:28am I found our family, including my atheist grandfather, dead at least 60 years, is now sanctified by the Mormon church. Oh Dear! Granddad would be turning in his grave, if he had a spirit, which he doesn't.
Comment by TNT666 on February 3, 2012 at 10:44pm Oh dear, that atheist father-in-law was baptised into Moronism a full year after his death!!!!!!!!!!! Oh dear me dear me... how can anyone vote Republican I simply do not understand :(
Comment by Joe Tomberlin on February 3, 2012 at 10:03pm Bill Mahar just de-mormon-baptised Mitt Romney's atheist father-in-law on Real Time. Very funny.
Comment by TNT666 on February 3, 2012 at 5:25am Bob Barker's been in the news more than usual lately it seems, between funding Sea Sherpherd Conservation Society's "MV/ Bob Barker" and their new helicopter, and saving elephants from living in Canadian zoos, I'm finding myself liking the old guy more and more... then I saw on his MySpace page that he's long been an agnostic... funny how I'd never noticed him on atheist celeb pages...

Comment by TNT666 on February 2, 2012 at 8:34pm There is a philosophical point to be made there however. It IS government policy to pay bureaucrats less value than they would COMPARED to similar employment in the private sector in order to ensure that bureaucracy isn't filled by salary chasers. We DO want our government workers, serving the people, to be doing so because that is their passion.
However, teachers are not bureaucrats, and teachers in some areas (but not all) are underpaid. But more important than underpaid... teachers in a great many areas are undervalued... in the esteem sense. Children are often considered "right" and teacher "wrong", which is ridiculous from young children, and from uneducated parents.
There is the additional problem that it is getting harder and harder (money and time) to get a teaching degree and IMHO this is weeding out the wrong teachers. My favourite and most interesting, empowering, inspiring, teachers I've had through my many years of schooling were the ones that are today weeded OUT of the long hard road to becoming a teacher, and the boring, straight laced, uptight people are the ones best equipped to survive the educational training, those least gifted to actually encourage youth to learn. We have reached a sad state in the world of education :(
